got writers?

My question is do late night talk show hosts really need writers? I understand the writers create monologues and other stuff about the show, but shouldn't Jay, Dave and the rest have enough experience to do this on their own? possibly adlib something of a show? or are they just supporting the strike by shutting down? Either way It doesn't bother me, I'm just wondering. The writers likely have a legitimate point, though as a casual observer I can't say I'm taking a position. so that's it, ignorance, but inquisitive.

Afraid of student media

Well, I can't say that all student media would be professional enough for me to say, give me a break, but this one seems to be balanced enough to bring up a question and have two views of the answer to be equally represented. I don't understand why a presidential candidate would be upset by this. Except that it does raise a fair question to Edwards claims vs actions.... Frankly I don't care either way, except that for some reason they thought it was something that had to be fought. that's where I thought it worthy of mention.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!

The Final Season, with Sean Astin, Powers Boothe and Tom Arnold. I encourage you to go see this movie. It was directed by David Evans, the director of The Sandlot. I am biased that I got to witness and be a part of the crowd, can't claim I saw myself or anything. I enjoyed the movie and I must say that my friend who is a critic of critics is correct. Critics SUCK. Ok not all of them, but those who do, know who they are. This movie has been out two weeks and is just under earning $1 million. This movie is a good family movie and should be at least 10 times that amount, if not more. I didn't expect it to be a Blockbuster, making 100 million or anything, but it has a great story and is an enjoyable movie. here's a link to the website. Take 10 or 20 of your friends to the theater and see this movie! YOU CAN DO IT!

Well then

I just need to post to this again. it's been way too long. What's on my mind. well the thing is there is an annoyance, why do we keep allowing those who think they speak for everyone, continue to have the only voice, granted those like moveon.org have the right to speak, but give me a break, just because they were convinced they would not like what was going to be said, they run ads against General Patraeus. cleverly using the name to say or General Betrayus. Lets just drop the facade, you don't support the troops, the majority of the troops support the Patraeus report. The whole notion of support the troops, end the war is inane. after we've gone this far, to just pull out would be irresponsible and if you really think the dems will actually do that if they were to gain the presidency, you're nuts. This is just a campaign issue, the problem is they will slam, defame and destroy all they can, to get power back. The problem is that they are causing damage to our soldiers as they do it. The worst thing we can do with an enemy who will not negotiate peace, no matter how hard we try, cry or protest against our President, is to say, you know what, this is the wrong thing to do, we're pulling out and leaving Iraq to fend for themselves. Terrorists for years of inaction against them had been convinced we are paper tigers, meaning, when it looks like it's too difficult, we just give up. Now that is exactly what the message would be if we were to pull out now. Do we really want to send that message, in effect say, come on boys, blow us up here again!!! Uh... Not so much. at least that's my opinion.

This is why my site is here...

Sean Penn is a "Useful Idiot." Good grief, the man has such hatred for the United States, the country he prospered by living in. He tries to make people think it's just against Bush, but he goes to places and brings comfort to the enemy. Those who kill US soldiers would just as gladly kill you over here. Hugo Chavez is not just a enemy of George Bush, Yet Sean and many other leftists in Hollywood (Danny Glover & Harry Belafonte included) like to go down there and visit despots, then they try to equate our president with being a dictator. I usually don't make such harsh judgments, but you'd have to be a MORON to believe that. Here's more on Sean's visit.

The only Television show I watch with regularity is Smallville, yeah I'm a superman geek. I hear Heroes is good, I missed all but a portion of two episodes so I didn't get into it. but back to Clark, Lex, Lana, Lois and Chloe. Boy I like that show. here is a link to spoilers for the new season and this is from the biggest and best fansite Krypstonsite.

Interesting

So AlQueda (sic) thought they'd invent an internal iraqi resistance to hide the fact that they are just trying to invade and take over. Hmmmm

Almost funny

I just find it interesting the democrats are complaining that the republicans are stalling the debate by filibuster. Uh they didn't think anything was wrong with that when they were in the minority and they were holding up votes on judicial nominations. The difference now is that the repubs are holding up voting for something that is not really their responsibility. The Commander in Chief and the D.O.D should be determining strategy. If the congress thinks we should pull out of Iraq, they just need to cut off the funding. I understand people being against the war, that's fine with me, we can debate these things, but one thing I haven't heard from those who want us to pull out, How do we abandon the new government of Iraq? How do we abandon those citizens that are glad we are there? Will they take responsibility if as those who support the war predict that chaos and genocide will go out of control? Worse when an even worse enemy state is established? We must finish what we started. How we got there is not the issue now, getting out with acceptable results is what is important now. You want out now? Then what? I thought one of the problems with going into Iraq was supposedly that we left Afghanistan with too little troops to be effective, and things started to go down hill. How would doing the same thing these people complained about there, be a good idea now in Iraq?

Pope is not in the true church.

We'll see how many people I offend with this one....

Hopefully the comments that the pope made recently will cause those who are trying for Ecumenism to rethink. It probably won't, because it doesn't take too much looking into the situation to realize that Roman Catholicism is not biblical anyway. There are many other unbiblical things that the so called church has embraced over the years, why would it change? Now don't get me wrong I don't HATE catholics, just don't agree with the "church" many reasons why... Mary didn't remain a perpetual virgin, Mary is not the "Mother of God" just a sinner chosen to be a vessel to carry to term a baby who was and is both God and Man. She proclaimed herself as a sinner and that God was her savior. Praying to the dead and idolatry don't help the situation and the whole idea of priests the way they see it is misguided, too much in that statement to elaborate at this time... Jesus is my Prophet, Priest & King! Purgatory????? That can't be found in the Bible, oh of course Church Tradition is just as important as scripture....really? Where can that be found. Peter the fist pope? no, oh my belief comes directly from the apostles, their writing are in the bible and do not support most of the Roman Catholic teachings. By the way this post is not a knee jerk reaction to the comments the pope made, saying that The Roman Catholic church is the only true church.. Reading what he said did remind me of my stance on things and therefore did serve as a springboard for me writing this. He's right in one thing, there is Only one true path of salvation, It is NOT through works based practices, It is by the Grace of God through Jesus Christ. There are many false Christs, only the Bible can show you the real one, no other source can.

No Amnesty for you.... yet.

At the risk of being called a hater a hate monger or as Geraldo would say a Cheerleader of hate. I am glad the Amnesty bill is dead. The problem is that things like this don't really die, they just sneak it in with other legislation. The thing we need to do is to secure our borders, make being here illegally not worth it. Build the fence that is currently mandated by law and funded, but not being built, next stop giving welfare and any assistance other than medical in times of emergency, also don't make it a automatic thing to be a citizen when you're born here, I know this seems mean, but really if I was illegally in pretty much any other country, would they consider my child if born while I'm there a citizen? Prosecute and fine those that hire illegal aliens. Seize funds being sent to Mexico that can't be proven legitimate. After this is done, we can discuss a plan to improve immigration, but EVERYONE would have to start from scratch. Yes the 12 million + illegals once the pressure was put on would head back home... there is more important things than just stopping Mexicans or whomever trying to get here to live and work and send money back to families... Secure the border to hopefully stop or hinder those trying to get here for purposes of terrorism. That's how I see it and I can't tell you how disappointed I am by Bush and those in Congress that just don't get it, or maybe it's they WONT get it.

Marcus Luttrell

I want to learn more about this guy. Here's what I've seen so far.
Read
Watch

quote- "Over there, we don't watch the news"

Probably a good idea.

Talk Radio Crisis!!!!!

There is a new crisis rising in the nation, well maybe it's not new, I've heard the complaint for a while, but it seems to be a hot topic right now. Talk Radio is too conservative. Lets just see, why would this be, I know it must be a massive conservative rich guy conspiracy. Or maybe it's market demand.... Rush Limbaugh doesn't get tons of money because all the radio stations are conspiring to make him rich and make him the mouthpiece for the nation, they are airing him and paying him so much because he gets massive ratings (lots of listeners). If he suddenly lost 90% of his audience they'd kick him to the curb. There have been many attempts at getting "progressive" radio out there. Air America struggles, why? They aren't getting the listeners. The market decides success or failure. Well I guess the answer may be legislation, yeah the politicians always know best don't they? Here's a couple links that try to explain the first one they absolutely refuse to acknowledge that free market (one of the pillars of a free country) is working, there must be limits on who can own what and how much. read here
The second link is from a "conservative" talk show and is second hand info, I can't say that it's fact and hesitated to bring it up, but at last I decided, I'll share it and let you decide. Listen

We do not need regulations to control radio's political content. They will air what people listen to, because the advertisers will pay to support things that people are listening to.

re: ok that's IT

Well, apparently they have heard from a ton of people from all over the country and have decided they won't reject a contract with the station because they air Rush. I don't know if common sense prevailed or they were just intimidated into it, but lets get real, they should pick the station for the contract that can best do the job. hopefully now they will make the decision based on that.

On another issue. I usually don't really care about anything Angelina Jolie, I really don't have an opinion on her one way or another, she seems to be trying to do good things, but I found this article interesting, considering the movie she is promoting is among other things trying to promote a "free" press, then she goes and tries to ban some and control the content with others that would be covering her for the release of the movie. Now that's a good one check out the article here

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

ok that's IT.

Today I'm annoyed by something I read. I sent an email to voice my opinion and they probably think it's something Rush Limbaugh encouraged, I haven't even listened to rush to see if he even mentions this article I read. Some jerks in Broward County Florida are wanting to end a contract to report hurricane information, with a radio station, because they air Rush Limbaugh. What a joke, what does political opinion have to do with public safety ... here's the article

I just LOVE this quote " Commissioner Stacy Ritter said she did not want to support a station that's out of step with area politics." The brilliance of this woman is just mind blowing! More and more I understand why Glenn Beck talks about needing to wrap duct tape around his head. (so his head doesn't explode from all the stupid things he sees happening) WE ARE ALL AMERICANS, why do we have to turn EVERYTHING into a political death match?????????

This is what STUPIDOPINIONS.INFO is all about! They spew the stupidity and I'll highlight it.

Oh I don't know

I'm pretty much undecided on what I should think about the presidential race, other than it's too early, the dems want to have the government (not we the people government, but a dem run we know what's best for you government) run everything from health care to global warming, that i am decided about, I guess I should clarify that I'm undecided on what to think or do about the sucky bunch of candidates the republicans have come up with so far. Rudy and McCain are so far left they might as well run as dems, except they do want to actually defend our country, I'll give them that. I know just a little about one that isn't even in the race yet, but he probably will run and I'll probably be a supporter for him. Fred Thompson, unless something comes out about him that puts a damper on that thought, I think I do have a candidate. Hopefully he does run and he does capture the conservatives and the Reagan Democrats. We will see.
now this was a boring post, maybe I should bring up Paris Hilton or something ;) She's in Jail again. crying herself to sleep, the problem is... she is crying for self pity, not remorse for breaking the law. maybe some time in that cell will help her out with the priorities. That's all.

how dodd....

I just saw a commercial that at first didn't catch my attention, the tune was cute kids singing... "whole world in his hands"...uh oh wait, no its in "our hands" It was a presidential commercial for Chris Dodd... He's decided to try to be the global warming candidate, we have the power or he's hoping he has the power to basically destroy business with a new TAX on business to change the face of business in America.... meaning.... make the cost of running a business in the US so prohibitive and drive them elsewhere, the next thing they'd do is start complaining about how these evil businesses are setting up shop outside of the US. There so far is no EVIDENCE that we have any control over the temperature of the earth, let's just do stupid things that screw up the rest of our lives over something we can't control... NO the whole world isn't in our hands... yes we should be good stewards and take care of it the best possible way, but to TAX businesses out of here isn't going to help. The other effect that these taxes would have is to drive prices that you and I pay for goods and services much higher. No thanks Chris.

quickly

I don't have much time before I head into work. I had a bunch of great thoughts to blog about last night, couldn't get the time to actually do it, then I woke up after too short of a nights sleep and now I can't think of anything I meant to talk about. I am a bit excited that it looks like Fred Thompson is going to bring "law and order" to the presidential campaign, yeah that joke wasn't just waiting to happen now was it. Okay... later I may blog about illegal immigration (just for fun) and iowans committing murder in florida... who knows but I need to go now.

bummer

Today is on a personal note, tonight is my last night working the wonderful overnight shift. It was less stressful and more enjoyable than the day shift, but all good things must come to an end. :( To put perspective on this, I was given a reminder that there are more important things, The son of a friend of mine was injured in a trampoline accident, his sister fell on him (he's 3, will be 4 in the fall) his left arm was broken, both the radius and the ulna. but it was able to be set without surgery and he will be fine. YAY.. Now off to go pout about my shift :)

better yet

interesting

I heard a bit about John Edwards claiming that the “Global War on Terror” is just an ideological doctrine promoted by the Bush Administration... I also heard part of a clip of him telling Bill O’Reilly that the dems would always stand with Bush on the War on Terror. I will get more details and maybe even audio/or video to compare and contrast what he is saying now, with what he said 6 years ago. The assumption that many can make is he’s in support of it when it was popular, but if it gets tough, then he jumps ship as fast as he can. Before I jump to that conclusion I will investigate. I do this at risk of at least one relative calling me a “Hater” It seems that to SOME liberals if you question their positions or the accuracy of their statements, then you must be a bigot or a hater. So much for tolerance J

On the other hand I hope we all take the time to reflect on Memorial day and honor the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom, no matter what your political persuasion or stance on the current or any other war, these who have sacrificed all, made it possible for us to spout our opinions right or left, without fear of government retaliation or imprisonment.

Here's a link of John Edwards in 2001

I’ll try to put another post together specifically addressing Memorial day.

Amnesty

So is the so called plan for immigration good for us?  Honestly without securing the borders any other thing we do won't mean much.  I can't say that I have the answer, would it be costly and inconvenient to round up 12 million plus illegals? Yes, but should we reward them for coming here illegally? NO. I don't think having them pay a $5000 fine will work either. lets close the borders and make sure only those who come legally are coming in.  That may be impossible to completely do, but what can work is to deny assistance from the government, punish employers who hire them and those who give loans etc.  Take away the incentive to stay here and they may go back on their own.  Don't give me the argument that they are mostly law abiding people, they broke the law by coming here illegally so they are ALL law breakers. I'm not against immigration, bring them in, the ones willing to take the time and effort to come the proper way. So I guess I do have the answer, don't round them up. make it suck to be here and make the penalty for those who help them bad enough to cut it off. then have a good way for them to apply to come here legitimately.  now vote for me as president! (no don't, I don't need the stress)

They are giving up?

What's the deal?  The Dems now say they are going to sponsor a bill to fund the troops without a timeline for withdraw?  They made their statement, which I don't believe said anything... My opinion ... Whether you agreed with going to war or not, we should fund the mission, because it has to be completed. We can't just give up and go home just because we don't like how its going. We had more soldiers die in a training mission during world war II, did we just say well too many have died, let's just pack it up? NO, we stuck it out. Now honestly I don't know if there were those politicians declaring our defeat during that time, but I would assume that people had enough respect for the office of president and for the military to not accept those who would play politics with the lives of our soldiers. You don't have to be a whole hearted war supporter to want us to win the war and then bring the troop home. Common sense does dictate that it doesn't do us any good to whimper about how bad it's going ( which I'm not convinced it is) and whine that we must bring them home... We can't become a nation of quitters, finish what you started and then come home.
Just to be clear, my hope is not in the Republican party, Government, conservative values or politics at all. My hope is in the creator of this world and His Kingdom that is coming soon.  Jesus come quickly!

New Logo

So, today is fluff day. I have no desire to get into deep stuff today.  So just thought I'd make a logo for my blog site!!!

Biggest question of the day!

My biggest question today...... Is Lana really dead? Well I don’t know the other big question ... Is Chloe dead too? Those are at least at the same magnitude. Honestly Chloe is expendable, well in one sense, because she was not in the original story... Yes you’ve caught me, I’m talking about the only show I watch with regularity. Smallville. I’m sorry if you haven’t watched the Season Finale and I just ruined some of it for you. I’ll ponder more on this and figure out how I’m going to make it through a Bizarre summer. J

Approval/Disapproval

I hear over and over how low Bush's approval ratings are... Granted, I have issues with him, but as I've said before it's more that he doesn't do more of what he said he'd do. which obviously would tick off the left some more. I think Bush is not conservative enough in certain areas. The funny thing is, from the news to "The View" (I've seen it on occasion) all I hear is how low his approval rating is... or as they say his disapproval rating.... but they never mention the rest of the story. What I mean is.... the low approval rating that congress has... It has gotten lower since the Dems have started to do nothing or impede progress . They in fact have a lower rating that GWB. Read this Gallup Poll.

That's all I have to say on that. I think it speaks for itself.

activists/protesters convicted

I guess now that they are convicted we can call them protesters, the news article I read did anyway. KCRG even misspelled time in the headline, but that's not the point :) The judge thought trying to save soldiers lives was a good thing, but it didn't justify trespassing. I agree, wanting to save lives is great, but if you break the law doing it, then you should suffer the consequences.

This is a short posting today, oh well, I'll make up for that soon I'm sure.

What happened to respect?

Interesting thoughts, why do people treat those who have different political beliefs like enemies?  I mean really, if I tell someone that I supported George W. Bush and voted for him twice, I start getting all this rage against him and me, it truly is an irrational thing to vehemently hate someone you don’t know. It’s immature to go all out and personally attack them too.  I have not seen this much bashing of anyone or at least to this extent.  The liberals who speak of tolerance and condemn people for “hate speech” seem to throw all that out the window when it comes to politics.  We are all Americans; for the most part we want to advance this country. Though there are some who seem to want to defeat it, those I will certainly take to task, but those who have a different idea of how to better this country, I can be open to discussion with.  I may not agree, but certainly won’t hate them. If you are seething with hatred for republicans and or Bush, you need to calm down, figure out why you are consumed with this hatred and give it up. That doesn’t mean scrap your opinions... unless they are deranged like thinking Bush caused 9/11/01, get real. Also the idea the Bush lied to get us to war.  He was using the same intelligence that the Dems were looking at and that President Clinton used to say the same things about Iraq, not to mention that most other countries agreed with it too (whether they agreed with going to war or not) If you still think he orchestrated all that, then you shouldn’t say anything against him, because being that powerful, you don’t want to mess with him. That also would disprove those who think he’s an idiot. Ok now that I have that out of the way... I love this country, I think defending it by securing our borders and defending it by war in other countries if necessary is a good thing. You don’t have to agree, that doesn’t make me think you are less American.  Disrespecting the President (of either party) especially as commander in chief, and rooting for us to lose a war, might make me question your patriotism. Respect seems to be a lost quality in America. Opinions can vary, but we should all treat each other with respect, unfortunately, those in Washington can’t seem to understand that either. They sadly have become a reflection of the country as a whole instead of being leaders.

Common Sense?

Do we not have any common sense anymore? We allow political games to be played by or politicians with the lives of our soldiers, we allow them to do the same with protecting our borders aka illegal aliens. Now in the news 6 people arrested for plotting to kill as many soldiers at Ft. Dix as they could. I actually heard someone call a talk show about this and say it was a bad thing the Circuit City employee reported this? WHAT?! He said this continues the bad practice of racial profiling, oh.... so because he saw video of apparent Muslims shooting weapons and shouting jihad slogans, he should have just thought to himself... gee that looks fun, just a bunch of fun loving Americans minding their own business. Hmm, How about do what he did, call police and let them look into it. If there was nothing to it, then it's over with. Obviously there was something to it and I'm glad this person reported it., and as Glenn Beck said today, We can hope all potential terrorists are this stupid. Now comes the revelation that at least three of the suspects are apparently here ILLEGALLY. Gee, I guess there might be a problem with this after all. No I don't think all illegal aliens will become terrorists, but never the less being here against the law is bad enough. Maybe this will spur people to wake up about this issue. Nah, the media who is feeding us what they want us to know hasn't really made a big deal out of it. which means it doesn't matter... Right? email me what you think about this and any of my blog entries

What do you want?

I was scanning headlines and one caught my eye, I’m not sure what the gist of the story was, but the headline itself made me think.  It was something Hillary Clinton said, Voters blame Bush for Iraq.  I’m pretty sure what I could imagine the story to say, but here’s what it made me think.

What do you want in a leader? Do you really want someone who voted for the war in Iraq and now speaks loudly against it, or just says we need a timetable for withdraw?  What kind of leadership is that? A leader makes the decision he/she thinks is best and sticks to that decision no matter if it’s popular or not.  Yes there is room for someone to have a change of heart, yes we can second guess the reasons why we went, but it is irresponsible to now suddenly say. “It’s too hard” and just give up... We used to have basic values that said, if you start something, finish it. These days, it’s if it’s too hard, pull out.  No one really likes war, and it is sad to see the soldiers die, by the way they know there is this possibility when they join the military, so let’s cut the bull about sending our KIDS into harms way. I keep hearing the dems and war protesters saying “support the troops... bring them home”  I agree bring them home, when they have finished their mission. I’ve heard many soldiers or family members of soldiers say “Don’t say you support the troops if you don’t support the mission” It just can’t work that way... We’ve gotten ourselves into Iraq, like it or not, agree with us being there or not, we are there and we must finish what we started... We can’t keep quitting when it gets hard, we will lose our way of life if we just cower in the corner and ignore the real threats that are out there... Do you want a leader that tells us we must be quitters?  Whether they voted for the war or not, we as a nation, must keep our commitments or we can’t be considered trustworthy. Just a quick look on the flip side, what kind of leader says they want something (like withdraw from Iraq) and then won’t back it up... Congress has the power to cut the funding for the war, they could cut it now and demand the immediate withdraw.  Why don’t they do that?  Because they know it’s the wrong thing to do, they are just using it as an issue for political gain, a practice which is just plain wrong. I want a leader that makes a decision, sticks to it, tries to right any wrongs, but just doesn’t quit because the going gets tough.. One who is more concerned with doing the right thing than what the polls tell them to do. Hopefully I will find that leader soon and hopefully that leader will be the next President.

Just what makes me think....

I often sit here thinking about what I might want to blog about, sometime, like right now, where nothing comes to mind. I told myself that I would try to do at least one post a week.... It usually is easy, I find some political thing, sometimes it's not political, but most of the time something comes to mind pretty quick. Tonight.... not so much. I guess I could say a lot about the war or the 2008 election, but gee that is a year and 1/2 away. I keep scouring the internet for news about the movie, "The Final Season" which was filmed in Cedar Rapids. last summer... It had its world premier at the Tribeca Film Festival.... They are still looking for a distributor.. I'm looking forward to it because My family and I took part as extras, my son is really hoping there will be a point where he will be seen. He would like to be a filmmaker, or I should say, he has begun his career, making some homemade films. His highlight of the "Final Season" was that he got to say "Action" and do the electronic clapboard. Well this has evolved from a complaint that I couldn't think of anything to write about into something. Well, I have fulfilled me duties of writing a new blog, it may be boring, but hey how much do I have to live up to, with a blog called, Jason's Stupid Opinions. Oh and I hate infomercials, which is all that is on broadcast tv right now.

Jumping ship?

What just happened in Iowa house of representatives is making me think... Ok a lot of things probably happened, but specifically Dawn Pettengill switching parties from Dems to the Republican side. I don't quickly jump for joy when that happens, I have to look at the reasons... It seems that the Dem leaders weren't surprised by her action, I guess politically for them it's best to say, Oh we saw it coming, she voted against our legislation anyway, in reality, it must tick them off, it cuts their majority which is slim anyway. She was known as one of the most conservative dems in the house. In looking at the quotes from her press conference, I think she was sincere and doing this after careful thought. She could no longer side with the liberal agenda they are going with in the dem led Iowa congress. Interesting apparently she said there are about 1/2 a dozen others considering the same. I personally don't like to see the Republicans regain anything this way, It should be through the electoral process, but can't begrudge anyone who has concluded they aren't represented by the Dems anymore wanting to get out. In reality, I think if the Republicans, locally and Nationally had not abandoned their message, but stuck to their principals (that is after all why they call them principals), they would have kept their majority in both state and national elections. so I'm mixed on this turn of events, but who am I.

Protestors or activists..... what's the dif?

“Activists” Occupation Justified..... comment on article from the CR Gazette.

11 “peace activists” who are in trial in Linn County for Criminal Trespass insist they were justified in staying at the federal courthouse in Cedar Rapids after hours on 2/26/07 because of the urgent need to speak to Senator Chuck Grassley about ending the war in Iraq. These “activists” are part of a group called the Occupation Project, an anti-war campaign of “sustained civil disobedience”

They say they were just participating in Democracy... First off, Senator Grassley doesn’t make the call to end the war or not, furthermore he wasn’t even at his office, he was out of the state and actually on a flight at the time. These Protesters... oops they don’t want to be called that, “activists” were told he wasn’t there and spoke to aides of the Senator. At 5pm when the courthouse was closing they were asked to leave... all but 11 of them did... What good reason did they have to stay after they had found out that Grassley was not there, nor was he coming there that day? Short answer... no good reason at all. They just wanted the publicity that it generated... I found it interesting that of those who were arrested almost half of them aren’t even from Iowa... most are U of I students, but I take it since they listed their residences as out of the state, Mr. Grassley is not even their Senator. I’m all for freedom of speech and can support the right to protest, but other than being a stunt to create publicity, there is no reason the
y had to stay at the courthouse after hours, since the one they claim they were trying to see was nowhere near the building. They should pay the penalty for their trespass.

Well

Insanity reigns in the USA. Pelosi and Reid's thugs waste time and make the military suffer for their stupid political ambitions... they have admitted this is all to try to retain power.. disgusting. I wish Bush would stand up for himself, If he was a communicator like Reagan was, he wouldn't be so low in approval ratings.. of course if he'd just stand up and kick butt in Iraq like we should that would help too. I'm happy for a surge, but it needs to be more of a stampede. Poor Rosie, I bet we won't know the real story why she's leaving, but It likely has something to do with her insane politics.. I don't care if you disagree, with the president, I do on many things, but if you recklessly accuse of things you have no proof of, that's where I have a problem. Apparently so does ABC.

I think Glenn Beck should run for president. He has great theories on where Pelosi and other leftists are from. more on that later.

Who should resign?

So, how screwed up can we be... they try to bring down Alberto Gonzalez for his role in firing federal prosecutors. The president has every right to fire them as he chooses. lets forget that, now who should resign? How about Harry Reid, one who can create scandal just by waking up, now has announced that we have LOST the war. Who the heck is he to determine that, and That is very close if not over the line of undermining our war effort (Treason) We should demand his resignation, in this mad dash to do that taking down Don Imus and whomever they are after next, why do they give a pass to jerks like this? I'll stop now, I'll put more up when I'm thinking more rationally and less with my emotion.. (that is a good subject to talk about soon, deciding things on emotion, especially political decisions, very scary)

sad

It truly is saddening what happened at Virginia Tech. It is a shame the man responsible wasn't taken off the streets before this happened. I hope we stay away from politicizing this. We don't need anti-gun folks using this tragedy for their own gains. I will some day discuss my belief in the 2nd amendment, right now, lets just mourn.

Imus(t) confess.....

I've never been a Don Imus fan, too angry liberal for me, but you know what, I think that free speech applies to all sides of the political spectrum... Yes, we should allow him and Rosie and Al Franken to say stupid things, Just like the conservative media should be allowed to speak... I don't think CBS and MSNBC should have caved to a few protesters and fired Mr. Imus. If we let the free market (capitalism) handle it, we preserve free speech and don't create a climate of fear of being blacklisted... this fear is coming from the side of the aisle that claims to be against it... those who would say the red scare (communism blacklisting in Hollywood for example) was a bad thing are jumping on the bandwagon with this one. Let the audience decide if this is what they want to listen to... if not they will change the station and those who say the stupid things will be fired by the audience, not thugs. One more reason.... Do we think that stopping someone from sayin things that are inappropriate actually change the underlying problems? Of course they don't... at least if they feel free to say the things... we'll know where they stand.... and as I said the market will take care of them.

state of the world...

Oh well, at least the terrible oppressive United States will have someone to hold them at bay... Uh wait.... Ok. I'm over my momentary leftist insanity... (all that was a joke, except the leftist insanity) So, Iran says they are close to having the centrifuges to produce industrial grade enriched uranium... As I listened to Glenn Beck
He was talking about Iran and their nuclear ambitions, he has stated the last thing he wansts to see is us attacking them, but worse then that would be to allow them to become a nuclear power, we could be months away from them getting to the point where they could produce a bomb, which there is a point that you can still attack their nuclear sites and be ok, or if you wait too long you would create a new Chernobyl situation, so if it comes to it, we or Israel would likely take action. Not to do so would be suicide for either us or Israel. I would prefer that we don't start another world war either, but It is clear if you listen to Iran, they are at war with us and they have tested us and we may have flinched, (or at least England did on our behalf) which means they are emboldened to continue on their path. just an observation, I have no solutions at this point, either way we are going to have real problems, I guess right now the best thing to do would be to encourage sanctions, and hope the resistance in Iran is strong enough to revolt... We must be willing to support such action as well.

On a completely different subject, I'm amused at John Edwards Two Americas and his own hometown situation... read this Washington Times article. That's all for now. Whether I have something good to say or not, I am going to try to do at least one post a week, hopefully more.

Resurrection Day

Tomorrow is Easter, or a better word is Resurrection day... no matter the state of the world right now, I know my hope is in the empty tomb (James Cameron is wrong) Jesus spent 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth (matthew 12:40) He died to take the punishment for ALL sin (he had no sin of his own) Easter is the day we rejoice in the fact (yes fact) that HE IS ALIVE!

Happy Easter and don't let the bunny followers fool you.. it's not about colored eggs and chocolates. (though I certainly enjoy both)

Who won?

Oh my.... did diplomacy win out this time or what? WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Oh I know it looks sooooo good to the lefties who hate war (by the way who really likes war?) and do all they can to avoid it, basically like Europe did when Hitler was trying to introduce us all to the German language. Appeasement never works, ok it does in a short sighted, short term way. In the long run, does opening "Dialog" with terrorists and hostage takers really produce peace? Iran captured Brittish sailors, kept them as prisoners (hostages) and everyone in England got ticked at President Bush for calling them hostages, even our media couldn't handle it. We are so bent on not offending anyone, we (westerners) will sell out our own military people for avoidance of conflict. Apparently these sailors were not that important. I heard 48% of Brittons were against military action even as a last resort in this situation. (WAKE UP!) This was a test to see how much resolve the world has to prevent Iran from doing whatever it wants... and who passed this test... NO ONE, well except Iran. There are other opinions as to why this ended, which MAY be at least on the part of the U.S. a fairly good sign. read this NEWSMAX article. If you think the diplomacy strategy is a GOOD idea, I'd sincerely like to hear why. I'm not interested in just name calling or attacks, but if you have a logical argument as to why it was a good thing that England handled the situation the way it did, I'd be glad to entertain the idea. email me at jason@stupidopinions.info CYA (later on traitors going to Syria)

how about a recall?

So what have the Dems accomplished in their first 100 days (however many it is) Uh........................................................... nothing that I can think of except to play for power by using the lives of our soldiers. I listened to an interview with the parents of a soldier in Iraq. Their son is all for his mission, he gets ticked at those who claim they are supporting the troops, but against the war... he and his parents say you can't separate the two... why? because He volunteered to be in the military, which means he chose to be a warrior. He actually joined knowing he would go to Iraq. Those who joined before we went, knew they were joining a group that could be put in harms way at any time. The dems are delaying and stalling all they can, so the deadline that the Pentagon said they had to have funds by or they would have to cut down on training and repairs to equipment, will pass before they finish. They are Jeopardizing the lives of US Soldiers for their political battle against the President... Just a side note, the family I spoke of also wants Bush to veto the bill if it comes with a timeline, because it only emboldens the enemy, causes them to just lay low and wait until we're gone to cause Chaos. He also said he would rather his son fighting over there, than in Omaha. He also mentioned his son drives around with Iraqi interpreters who are deathly afraid of us pulling out. THINK. hmmm
Stop the dems from choosing to lose this war. Is it too late to demand a recall of these Dems who are weakening our country?

recreating myself.... sort of

Ok, I'm moving my blog from xanga, I don't know why I thought Xanga was the place to be, but I decided it isn't now... I will probably cross post both for a while, but this is my new home. woo hoo.

Mixed feelings

(Originally posted 3/21/07)

Today, I'm truly in a mixed mood. first my sister-in-law is in the hospital and will soon be having my nephew. YAY, I can' t wait for that... thats the good mix of emotion for the day (even though inducing the labor is taking so darn long. almost 24 hours so far)

Now, I'm getting very peeved, I try to be tolerant (such a grossly misused word) of other peoples opinions. I am getting very sick and tired of people playing politics with lives. Dems need to knock it off, they aren't trying to support troops by threatning to pull funding or make them retereat, they are mostly doing this as some sort of sick game to grab as much power as they can. You can say you support them all you want but it all ends up really harming the cause (defense of our country) Now this next thing that ticks me off , I don't know if they ever claimed to support the troops, but at this "peace" rally, they obviously don't with thier actions. Not to mention n65201211_30340995_2381 they show where they stand on the United States as well.. The link to this photo is below. now the person posting this photo says she is not a part of this nor does she support it. I also notice in the pics that these cowards don't have the guts to show their faces. This protest was not done in some other country by the way.. this is in Portland Oregon!!!!

http://linfield.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30340995&id=65201211&l=c6305

Now lest you think I'm letting Republicans off the hook, read my previous posts, you'll see I think thier handling of the war is lacking, my approach is to take this war into full gear and take care of the enemy altogether. I also am ticked at our weak treatment of North Korea and our breakdown which is allowing us to negotiate with IRAN!

More on that later.
