No Amnesty for you.... yet.

At the risk of being called a hater a hate monger or as Geraldo would say a Cheerleader of hate. I am glad the Amnesty bill is dead. The problem is that things like this don't really die, they just sneak it in with other legislation. The thing we need to do is to secure our borders, make being here illegally not worth it. Build the fence that is currently mandated by law and funded, but not being built, next stop giving welfare and any assistance other than medical in times of emergency, also don't make it a automatic thing to be a citizen when you're born here, I know this seems mean, but really if I was illegally in pretty much any other country, would they consider my child if born while I'm there a citizen? Prosecute and fine those that hire illegal aliens. Seize funds being sent to Mexico that can't be proven legitimate. After this is done, we can discuss a plan to improve immigration, but EVERYONE would have to start from scratch. Yes the 12 million + illegals once the pressure was put on would head back home... there is more important things than just stopping Mexicans or whomever trying to get here to live and work and send money back to families... Secure the border to hopefully stop or hinder those trying to get here for purposes of terrorism. That's how I see it and I can't tell you how disappointed I am by Bush and those in Congress that just don't get it, or maybe it's they WONT get it.

I'm not sure why this seems to be completely misunderstood by so many conservatives...but illegals CAN'T apply for welfare. If they receive any medical assistance that they didn't pay for, it would be by the mercy of the hospital...and again nothing that taxes or the government pays for.

Mexicans swim rivers to get into the USA because we have a excess of poorly-paying, manual labor, fry-chef, toilet-cleaning jobs that often times they can do without having to worry too much about having their fake ID checked.

The work they do is real, and the money they make is often a poor wage and hardly a living one, and they give their poor families in Mexico what little they can spare, because it is expensive to live here.

And they aren't sending illegitimate fund to Mexico. If you are concerned about your 'legitimate' funds not getting sent overseas...then stop buying products made in China...stop shopping at Wal-Mart. The amount sent by Mexicans to their families living in Mexico is a grossly laughable amount of money, compared to the many billions sent even just to China...not counting all the other countries.

Are you willing to deal with increased costs of hotels, or fast-food, or crops, or meats...when those jobs have pay reported legitimate wages to Americans, instead of curbing those costs by hiring those willing to do any work. Perhaps it would be a better America if all the Marriots and Holiday Inns went out of business...or people couldn't afford steak anymore.

Immigration law is the scapegoat of this issue in lieu fighting terrorism, as terrorists aren't looking for our meat-packing and fast-food jobs.

It isn't that I think that immigration law shouldn't be reformed, but the issue that is really at hand is the manner that people who follow Christ treat the poor, and the needy, and the meek. How many times do Christians complain and feel oppressed by our society when our laws don't seem to follow the Christian moral? We are the aliens and strangers in this world, so perhaps we need to dissociate our identity from a nationalistic one, and return to a being a people that have mercy on others.

Exodus 23:9 "Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt."
